yesterdayDaily and weekly summaries of Zendesk ecosystem news, curated and analysed.
Key Changes: This week's release notes introduce a new page in Admin Center that displays external OAuth clients used to authenticate and connect to Zendesk accounts. As part of the ongoing removal of password access for API authentication, accounts without recent usage of this feature have had the capability proactively turned off and removed. Accounts that disable password access will now automatically be enrolled in two-step verification, with the final phase of this rollout beginning in October. Additionally, the default content for the welcome email has been updated for new accounts. The Copilot add-on has also been expanded with 15 new recommendation types.

Zendesk Announcements • 8 days agoThe Zendesk ecosystem updates over the past three weeks suggest a company in flux, balancing ambitious product enhancements with ongoing service reliability challenges. While Zendesk is pushing forward with new AI-powered features, such as expanded Copilot recommendations and WhatsApp Flow support, it has also had to address several service incidents, including performance degradation, assignment issues, and access problems in its QA environment. This tension between innovation and stability, along with news of a potential Zendesk competitor emerging, creates an uncertain environment for Zendesk professionals who must navigate both the evolving product landscape and the underlying operational complexities.

Nico's Commentary
Like last week, security takes priority. It's easy to forget to disable old tokens and we see plenty of instances still allowing simple password access, even for API authentication. Drop me an email or book a call and we can talk you through some quick checks here!
I'm still not sold on the copilot features. I have support managers ask "What is the secret to getting good value out of this?" and if you've figured this out then please do let me know. Sorry friends at Zendesk but this feature feels like it's not quite ready. Maybe these items will help?
There has been a distinct lack of quality-of-life improvements for Zendesk admins of late. I would really like to see the config interface for the core features get brought up to date before much longer.
