Careers at Deltastring
Working at Deltastring Ltd
Hello. We are Deltastring Ltd. We’re the technical specialists that major CX agencies and consultancies hire for complex platform engineering work on enterprise accounts.
We are not recruiting right now but we are planning to create further roles in the coming months. Please check back here or get in touch with us if you see what we do and feel you’d be a good fit.
Deltastring leadership at Geckoboard.
What does the working day look like at Deltastring?
We’re a small agency and flexibility is critical. We build good habits but avoid excessive routine for its own sake. If we don’t need a meeting we’re happy to cancel it and use that time better.
We use Slack and Jira. We have our own Git server and our own data storage systems. We use a mixture of Apple, Microsoft, and Linux systems.
Deltastring operates a “core hours” policy which covers half of the usual working time, with the rest being flexible time. We’ve got kids and pets and medical things and normal human lives and we get plenty of work done.
We’re fully remote but with the odd in-person meeting or trip to an event. These meetings and events are usually in London or Hampshire and the team won’t be out of pocket for anything relating to these trips.
People and processes
Deltastring is not our first business, so everything is very by-the-book in terms of employment. We use an outsourced finance team (including for payroll etc) and also outsourced HR services in case you need that.
We aim to go beyond the standard equal opportunities policies. During recruitment, we are not interested in your age or where you went to school or anything like that. We won’t ask you to explain career gaps (whether you went travelling or needed to care for someone for a time, it’s not our business) but we will need to know you can do the things we need. We would especially encourage applicants who have previously had difficulties finding suitable employment for reasons of accessibility or inclusivity. We will prioritise applicants who self-identify as such. Please just put the email subject “Priority applicant” and do not put any further detail, there will be no disclosure required through the process.
Non-negotiable attributes
These things are hard requirements to join the Deltastring team. Particular roles have further and more precise specification.
- A person with exceptional organisational skills. If lists and calendars make you happy, I want you to lean in. That’s exactly what we need. If you’re a little bit chaotic with these things, this won’t work, sorry!
- A person with all-round competence with technology. When particular tasks require specific tooling, we’ll make sure you learn all you need to know, but day to day we just don’t have the time to be providing tech education. You need to be genuinely self-sufficient with technology. You should be comfortable picking up new tools independently, sorting out your own setup, and figuring things out without hand-holding.
- A person who is great at communicating. You’re going to be in group chats with us and sometimes with our customers. You’re going to meet new people and they will need to think “What a friendly and helpful person!” within the first few minutes. You’re sometimes going to represent Deltastring Ltd and that means you’ll need to come across as a calm professional. I’m talking about demeanour, not hairstyles. I also will need prompt, specific, and accurate answers to quick fire questions during working hours, things like “Is that meeting booked in?” and “Did we email that report?” and vagueness or slowness won’t do.
- Ambition and willingness to learn. This is a great opportunity to join a growing business that works with interesting technology and major clients. If you’d be excited by that, we want to hear from you.
We also require:
- Proof of right to work in the UK, because of the law
- A UK bank account so we can pay you
- Good and reliable internet
Our offer:
- Holidays, pension, eye tests, the things we have to provide. We’ll go beyond the usual pro-rata holiday allowance.
- We’ll send you a company laptop (probably a Macbook Air unless you have a specific request)
- Core hours with flexible time outside of those.
- The scope to make this role your own, to excel at the things you are best at.
- Learning opportunities, courses, books, introductions, the space and tools to flourish.
If you don’t tick all of these boxes:
- All of the things mentioned above are strict requirements, but I’m sure you will find a great opportunity elsewhere.
The application process:
- Email us demonstrating the skills listed for the role. Do not use ChatGPT. Do not attach a CV or any personal history. We would also expect to see some understanding of the values of the company. We’re not looking for knowledge about Zendesk or Salto or Ultimate AI, we will teach those things as needed. Help us keep the recruitment process pretty blind, if you send a photo or mention where you went to school or anything beyond what we ask then it’s a straight up no.
- We will reply to everyone who follows the instructions fully, with some follow-up questions. We will be looking to get a sense of how you would be to work with.
- We’ll arrange calls with those shortlisted. We may need a second round of calls if it’s hard to pick a clear winner.
- We will reach out to the successful candidate and make an offer.
We always reserve all rights to change any of this or scrap the whole thing. No agencies, no nonsense.
