Commentary: Behind the Scenes - Deltastring Infrastructure

You may have spotted we had a brief pause in updates to this page. Deltastring news is collected and collated and the analysis generated on a physical machine under my desk. If you're interested in some behind the scenes knowledge, it's a Mac Mini M4 (which runs a bunch of other Deltastring services and processes) which is powered from an Anker Solix 1000Wh battery which itself is charged from a combination of a solar panel and a mains connection which kicks in when needed. The network connection is via a Starlink, so there's no dependency on fixed infrastructure.

Anyway with the weather being what it is (the UK is pretty frozen this week, even here on the south coast) I borrowed this larger Anker to trickle charge the car battery. Ironically it's because of leaving the smaller Anker unit charging that I drained the thing. You might have seen me on Youtube talking about how it's an essential piece of kit. Anyway I didn't put the service back up which collects the Zendesk news until after lunch. Sorry!
